Forres ‘kept calling’ say couple who settled here to start footcare business

A couple who wanted to move closer to their family in Moray have ‘fallen in love’ with Forres and decided to set up their business here.

Allan and Carey Harvey didn’t want to be right on their son’s doorstep in Keith so looked around the area for somewhere to settle.

Carey Harvey is a qualified Foot Health Practitioner, and husband Allan runs the ‘office’, and so now Feet First Mobile Foot Care is a Forres-based service.

The couple work from home and offer a mobile service for anyone who doesn’t need the skills of a chiropodist, which means day-to-day footcare is more accessible and cheaper.

Allan tells the story: “We moved up from Norwich at the end of November to be closer to our son and his family, who are based in Keith. We didn’t want to be right on their doorstep, so we looked a little further west — and quickly fell in love with this part of Moray.

“We spent a few weeks in Nairn while we found our feet (no pun intended!), and during that time we established the business there and built up a small but lovely client base. But Forres kept calling us — it has such a warm, welcoming feel to it — and we were delighted when we found our home on Whiterow Drive just recently.

Care in the community

“Carey is passionate about helping older people stay comfortable and independent in their own homes, and we could see straight away that there’s a real need for that kind of care in this community. It felt like the right place to put down roots, both personally and professionally.”

She provides routine foot care in the comfort of your own home — particularly helpful for older residents, those with limited mobility, or anyone finding it difficult to manage their own foot care.

Services include nail cutting, reduction of thickened nails, and general foot health support — helping people stay comfortable, mobile, and independent.

Carey added: “Many people don’t realise how quickly foot health can impact balance, mobility, and overall wellbeing — especially as we all get older.

“We’re really looking forward to getting to know the Forres community and helping people who may be quietly struggling with their foot care”.

Carey Harvey (DipFHP, RFHP) can be contacted by phone on 07551 175372, and for more information, see her website at www.feetfirstfootcare.uk
