Brodie Castle adds a Scavenger Hunt to Moray’s Pumpkin Trail

There’s some spooky goings-on at Brodie Castle this weekend.

A scavenger hunt in the castle’s Shrubbery will be an added activity for family groups and will be another element to the locally-organised #PumpkinTrailMoray

With traditional Halloween trick or treating being advised against by the Scottish Government, locals have set up groups encouraging homes and buildings to display pumpkins that children can enjoy looking for and viewing.  And the trust is doing their bit by organising a free-to-attend activity that combines great fresh air and exercise for the whole family.  This free Scavenger Hunt is bookable online.

Riddle

On Saturday 31 October and Sunday 1 November, Brodie Castle is encouraging families to visit the castle grounds and estate and take an Autumn walk. While doing so, children can take part in their Pumpkin Scavenger Hunt in the Shrubbery, each one with its very own riddle to solve – those who find and complete them all will win a sweet treat.

Currently, the grounds are open between 10am and 4pm.  Pre-booking is essential to allow for safe social distancing, with the grounds being free to enjoy – although parking charges for non-NTS members within the grounds do apply.

The conservation charities Morayshire landmark was keen to partake, after the great success of last year’s ‘Spooktacular’ event, which saw hundreds of attendees enjoying Zombie themed Nerf wars, face painting and a disco. Team Brodie felt inspired to create a suitable Halloween-style activity for families despite the current COVID pandemic.

Safe, outdoor environment

Operations manager James Dean commented; ‘This year, unfortunately, we have had to scale back our Halloween plans completely, but families and visitors can still enjoy a wander around the grounds of Brodie and complete some riddles along the way! We hope we can still provide some entertainment for those who need it over the Halloween weekend in a safe outdoor environment where family groups can walk together and be able to keep socially distanced from others. As we all adapt to the “new normal, we would ask visitors to stick to the latest guidance, including wearing face coverings where required, and carefully observe social distancing.’
