Waterford Recycling Centre

The recycling centre at Waterford is set to re-open on Monday 1 June.

A booking system will operate to manage traffic in and around the site, and to maintain strict physical distancing. In total, more than 2,500 booking slots will be available weekly across Moray Council’s recycling sites in Elgin, Forres, Buckie and Keith.

Opening hours and details of how to book will be released by the council next week.

Moray Council’s Waste Manager, Mike Neary, thanked residents for their patience during the closure of recycling centres.

‘It has been a challenging time for all of us, but we took the necessary action to comply with the Scottish Government’s essential travel guidance, as well as dealing with reduced staffing, haulage capacities and understanding the implications of social distancing on our operations. Thank you to residents who have stored and disposed of their waste and recycling responsibly.

“While we’re now in a position to re-open the sites in line with national guidance, we’ll continue to monitor how our sites are being used, the demand and how any future relaxation of social distancing may allow us to increase access for residents. Importantly, we’ll do all this while prioritising keeping our colleagues and residents safe.”
