Volunteers urged to sign up to help run Falconer Museum

A viable way forward for the Falconer Museum has been outlined in a report, and local people are being urged to express their interest in volunteering with a deadline jut days away.

The recommendations can be read in two Culture Radar reports, published on the Moray Council website: http://www.moray.gov.uk/moray_standard/page_572.html

The council still has to discuss the proposals, vote on them and hopefully accept them. Only then will a dedicated group of individuals be able to start forming the New Operating body or trust, most likely a SCIO, which should be able to open and manage the museum while Moray Council retains ownership.

The Moray Council officers working on the case of the Falconer need a significant amount of Expressions of Interest from supportive individuals by the end of May 2025 (or else the process will take much, much longer).

We would like to support this and share the Moray Council form; please find it attached as both Word doc and pdf at: https://forreslocal.com/falconermuseum

There currently is no opportunity to bindingly sign up for a specific role; it is just what it is: an expression of interest which is needed for Moray Council to act and initiate the next stage.

The form would need to be send by the end of May to Moray Council’s email address dedicated to the Forres Conservation & Heritage Scheme: ForresCHScheme@moray.gov.uk

If you prefer to print and mail it, you could post it to Towerside, 19 St Leonards Road, Forres IV36 1DN and the form will be forwarded for you.
