A new police inspector in Forres has praised the local community for helping the force tackle local concerns about anti-social behaviour, and making Forres a welcoming place to live and work.
Officers in Forres have been carrying out increased patrols and checks as part of a new operation to clamp down on neighbourhood trouble.
Following an increase in calls reporting incidents that were affecting the quality of life for some residents, the local Community Policing Team has adapted its plan to include enhanced patrols, increased licensed premises checks as well as more speed checks in Forres and other local towns and villages.
This operation continues and officers will be out once again this weekend with the aim of deterring and preventing anti-social behaviour.

Local Community Policing Team Inspector Keli McPhail said: “I am really pleased with how this operation is progressing and would like to thank the local community for your support and co-operation so far.
“it’s only with your help and using the valuable information you provide to us that we can target the right places at the right times and make the area even safer.
“As your new Inspector I have been out meeting with the local community and it is so pleasing to see the effort so many people go to to make Forres a welcoming place to live and work.
“My officers who were out on patrol over the past weekend to carry out licensed premises checks were overall very pleased with how the people out enjoying themselves engaged with them. The same approach will continue this weekend but let me be clear that anyone who acts in an anti-social way will be dealt with robustly.
“This operation will ultimately help us work smarter and often alongside our partners to reduce anti-social behaviour, nuisance calls and concerns about drugs, excessive alcohol use and violence. We will also be working with our partners to develop innovative ways of diverting young people in particular from becoming involved in criminality.
“Anti-social behaviour in any form will not be tolerated and I want you to know that your concerns have been taken seriously and that our activity will not stop.
