Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted in Forres town centre.

The incident happened at around 1.30am on Sunday (2 June) when a 20-year-old man was assaulted in the Cumming Street area.

He was taken to Dr Gray’s Hospital where he was treated for a facial injury.

Officers would like to trace a man aged in his mid 20’s in connection with enquiries. He is described as white and around 5ft 11ins tall with dark hair and dark stubble. He was wearing a black jacket with a white logo or stripe, dark jeans and white trainers.

Investigating Officer PC Donald Matheson, of the Divisional Alcohol and Violence Reduction Unit, said: “This appears to be an unprovoked and isolated incident. We are appealing for witnesses who may have seen anything in that area at the time or who may recognise the description of the man given.

“We are particularly keen to speak to three men who came to the aide of the injured man.

“I would urge anyone with information about this incident to get in touch as soon as possible by calling Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you would prefer to remain anonymous, quoting reference number CF0138410619.”
