Planning permission for new 1,120-pupil Forres Academy is submitted

Moray Council has submitted a planning application for a new Forres Academy, marking a significant step in upgrading the town’s education facilities.

The proposal includes replacing the current Forres Academy with a modern, three-storey building covering 12,126m². The new school would provide space for 1,120 secondary pupils, including dedicated facilities for pupils with additional support needs and areas for community use. The plans also include outdoor sports facilities, landscaping, car parking, and a dedicated bus drop-off area.

If approved, the new academy will be built next to Applegrove Primary School, supporting a shared 5–18 campus model that will give both primary and secondary pupils opportunities to learn and interact in a modern, well-equipped environment, while also making it easier for the community to use the facilities.

Subject to planning approval, the project will be delivered by Hub North Scotland Ltd, with Balfour Beatty as the main contractor.

The planning application is now under consideration and can be viewed on the Moray Council website.

  1. Why am I not surprised. This wasn’t a choice, the MC knew all along and all the consultations were just PR. I’m probably now going to move, out of Moray.

  3. Numerous objections have already been logged in previous ” consultations”
It’s important that all those valid points be further submitted regarding the planning permission.
People are unfortunately beginning to lose hope of being listened to by councillors, after having their views disregarded and dismissed.
