MP discusses climate concerns with young protesters

Moray MP Douglas Ross met with local school pupils in his Forres office on Friday to discuss their concerns about what can be done to help the environment.

It follows a national campaign two weeks ago when pupils demonstrated outside his office, when Douglas was unable to meet with them.

Douglas said: “I was keen to meet with these young people after they held a rally on the High Street in Forres recently and we had a really good discussion about their concerns for the environment.

“The pupils from Drumduan School were very well informed and raised a range of issues about the environmental problems we face.

“I was able to outline progress the Government has made which includes working towards banning single use plastics such as straws and cotton buds, as well as microbeads.

“There is still a lot of work to be done on these issues, but I was very pleased the pupils took the trouble to come and speak with me. It’s important young people are engaged and feel their voices are being heard.”
