Motorhome park is awarded five stars as ‘aires’ spread through Europe

A short-stay motorhome park in Findhorn has been given the highest rating by a body which promotes ‘Aires’.

Findhorn Motorhome Stopover Park was awarded a five-star rating by CAMpRA, the Campaign for Real Aires, who inspected the site recently.

Aires is the name given to motorhome stopover points, from the French where the idea came about. The idea is to provide stopover points rather than full-blown campsites, with waste disposal facilities and easy access to nearby attractions. There are increasing numbers of aires appearing throughout Europe.

A maximum of two nights’ stay is allowed at Findhorn, which is controlled by a barrier and online payment system.

If you think the name of the awarding body is familiar, it’s a play on the word CAMRA, which is an abbreviation for Campaign for Real Ales, which also has members nearby!
