A Forres street food market on Mother’s Day will be an event to take the whole family to, organisers have said, with music, face-painting, amusements, and of course… food.
The people behind the massively successful Forres Family Market in December have announced their next event will take place on 30 March, following a suggestion from one of the vendors.
With a line-up of at least nine food outlets, there will be a covered seating area, kids amusements, a licenced bar, face painting and music (if they can get a band!).

The event will once again be backed by AES Solar and The Moray Honey Company, and will take place on Mother’s Day (30 March) from 10am till 4pm at the Old Tesco site between Gordon Street and Caroline Street.
Organiser Kay Thomson said the team were blown away by positive vibes from the first market and suggestions from vendors. It was Qismat, who were at the Festive Market, who suggested a street food event.
She said: “We are hoping to give the community something new and exciting to take the whole family to. This is not to take away from the restaurants, but to increase traffic to Forres which in turn will hopefully add to their business.
“The whole team just loved the December market and it went like clockwork. The stallholder feedback was incredible and I’ve never been hugged so much at an event!”
The full list of stalls is currently:
- Callum’s Kitchen
- Emma’s Fancy Wee Piece
- Berties Sweets
- Haydens Woodfired Pizza
- Java Rasa
- Lettoch Farm Coffee Company
- Maconies Ices
- Popseys Doughnuts
- Speyside Kitchen – crumble and scones
- The Moray Hog Roast Company
- Specer 4 Fun kids zone
- Bar by AC Events
Kay also confirmed dates for the regular markets which will run quarterly:
- Spring – 27 April
- Summer – 17 Aug
- Autumn – 19 Oct
- Winter – 30 Nov
She added: “Each regular market is themed and will have a surprise for visitors. The application forms are due to go out this week, but we are at max numbers with an anticipated 100 stalls for the spring market.”
Kay is looking to book a pipe band or a silver/brass band, and if anyone can help, they should contact her on 07918 102214.
