Marathon effort from local runners in Ellon, Inverness and London

It was a busy weekend for Forres Harriers, who scattered themselves over a variety of events in the UK.

Starting off with Rod Wallace running the BrewDog 21-mile fun run on Saturday 1 October, running from Aberdeen BrewDog Castlegate to BrewDog DogTap in Ellon in a time of 3 hours and 11 minutes.

There were three ladies running the London Marathon on Sunday 2 October; Kasia Klonowska smashing her personal best, finishing in 3:40:49, Jackie Nicol 3:50:34 continuing to prove that age is not a barrier and Jenny Urquhart who managed to get under the 4-hour time in 3:59:40, amazing after having Covid and a really nasty fall hampering her training.

Mark Brumby who is steadily chipping away at all his personal best times had another fantastic run at the Great Scottish Half Marathon in Glasgow, also on Sunday 2 October, finishing in a time of 1:36:39.  Fran Russell had a good age group placing to finish in 2:10:20.

Closer to home, again on Sunday 2 October was the Baxter’s Lochness Marathon and 10k event. Paula Boon ran a course personal best over the marathon in 3:47:49 and Paul Harvey ticked off his first marathon in 4:35:33.  Susan McRitchie finished second (F40) in the 10k event in a time of 42:45.
