Lorna wins bumper £300 prize in Forres Festive Shop Local Trail

Local woman Lorna Barker walked away from Forres High Street today with more than £300 of prizes from local shops and businesses after being drawn from a record number of entries in the Forres Festive Shop Local Trail.

The annual competition, which encourages people to walk through the town centre and visit shops was supported by local businesses which gave prizes totalling more than £300, including

  1. TD Logie
  2. Murdoch Brothers Butchers
  3. The Loft Glamping and Camping
  4. Babalu
  5. Unique Skin Clinics
  6. Maclean’s Bakery
  7. Asher’s Bakery
  8. Finishing Touches by Isobel
  9. The Pantry
  10. Pearl’s Pet Care

On hearing of her win, Lorna said: “Oh my goodness, I’m so surprised, thank you very, very much. The kids and I had great fun taking part.

Marc Hindley from Forres Local said: “This competition is an incentive to get people into shops. If there’s one thing we’re hearing a lot from comments on our business posts, it’s that people don’t realise the changing, vibrant stock in local outlets, unlike chains which constantly restock from a central warehouse.

“Trails like this help people discover new things, and we know that people enjoy doing them with their family members and we know they actually bought stuff while doing it!

“We would like to thank all the local businesses which took part. This year, entries were up threefold and it was nice to have shops at each end of the high street. With TD Logie and Murdoch Brothers both participating meant people literally had to walk from one end of the street to the other.

Congratulations to Lorna who correctly unscrambled the letters she found and sent in the correct answer ‘Santa Claus’, and her name was drawn from a hat on Wednesday.
