Forres businesses sign up to exclusive Moray Gift Card scheme to keep spending local

A new gift card that encourages people to shop local is now available to use in the Forres shops and businesses.

The Moray Loves Local card is like any other debit or credit card, except that it only works in shops that are signed up to the scheme, which is an incentive for people to use their local shops and keep money circulating in the town.

There are an increasing number of local businesses that accept the card, and the list is growing on a daily basis:

  • PEARL’S (Pet Care)
  • Logie Steading Farm and Garden Shop
  • ACE Adventures & Hideaways
  • Brodie Countryfare
  • Cluny Bank Hotel
  • Forres Gof Course
  • Phoenix Findhorn CIC
  • Findhorn Pottery
  • Spar, Kinloss
  • MRD Design Floors
  • Highland Army Surplus
  • Moray Osteopaths
  • Gallery 55
  • Morayvia, Kinloss
  • Born to Read
  • Boots
  • Canary Dwarf

We’ll carry an up-to-date list of participating businesses at: forreslocal.com/business/moray-loves-local/

The card is accepted throughout Moray (at registered outlets) and a full list of organisations that accept the card outside Forres can be found at https://scotlandgiftslocal.com/where-to-spend/#Moray-17811

Businesses across Moray are being encouraged to sign up to accept the Moray Loves Local gift card, a scheme being delivered across the country by Scotland’s Towns Partnership (STP) in partnership with Perth-based fintech specialist Miconex.

More than 80 businesses in Moray and are now signed up to accept the card and we want to encourage as many Forres business to sign up to the scheme. We’ll promote everyone in the Forres area by adding the logo to our directory, and providing a list like the one above, on our website.

Pearl Hamilton was one of the first business owners to sign up to take the card in her shop (Pearl’s Pet Care on Tolbooth Street) and bought three cards for her family.

She said businesses owners need to be using it with other traders to set an example: “If we all use our Moray Gift Card to spend with each other, and with other businesses, we’re helping to keep our family, our friends, and our neighbours all in employment, and contributing to the local economy. That’s good for all of us”

Speaking about the launch for consumers, Chair of the Moray Economic Partnership, Graham Leadbitter, said: “Whether it’s a gift for a friend or family member this unique-to-Moray card is a great way to show someone they’re appreciated, all while helping to boost our economic recovery from the pandemic. It’s a win for everyone!”
