Five hospitality establishments in Forres and Findhorn have won acclaim from Tripadvisor in their annual Travellers’ Choice award for consistently attracting high star ratings on the platform.
The award, which replaced the Certificate of Excellence in 2019, celebrates businesses that consistently deliver the best experiences to travellers and diners. It goes to those who have earned the highest reviews on Tripadvisor over the last 12 months.
In alphabetical order, they are:
- Captain’s Table, Findhorn
- Cluny Bank Hotel and Franklin’s Restaurant, Forres
- Kimberley Inn, Findhorn
- Mosset Tavern, Forres
- Old Mill Inn, Brodie
Cluny Bank proprietor Julia Kenny said: “It’s always nice to get positive testimonials, and this award acknowledges that our reviews are consistently good, and that reflects our constant effort to provide the very best in food and accommodation.
“Even through these difficult times, when all hotels and restaurants have faced challenges, it’s nice to know that our customers feel safe, and we’re grateful to them for taking the time to review us when the restrictions have undoubtedly made their own holiday movements challenging.
“The Travellers Choice award replaced the Certificate of Excellence, and we’re pleased to have received this every year since it was introduced in 2011.”
Refurbishment
Sophie McLean from the Old Mill Inn at Brodie, said: “We put a challenging 17 months to best possible use by refurbishing our restaurant and guest bedrooms.
“We have completely reworked our menu incorporating some incredible produce from the most amazing small suppliers. It is very gratifying to know that our guests appreciate our menu which pushes the boundaries of unique interpretations of classic Scottish food.
“We would like to thank our guests for taking the time out to leave such fabulous reviews and our team who continue to work with such heart and determination.”
Gordon Brailsford, Mosset Tavern, said: “We’re delighted to receive a Tripadvisor Travellers Choice award not only because it means we are delighting most of our guests most of the time, but to do so when our industry is still reeling from the effects of the pandemic means that our hard working is not going unnoticed.
“From food shortages, delivery driver shortages and staff shortages combined with the new ways of working, each day presents enormous challenges just to open the door.
“This award helps enormously. We always take the time to thank our team and staff and now on the back of this award we find ourselves humbled and thankful once more.”
Challenging
Chief Commercial Officer at Tripadvisor Kanika Soni commented: “I know the past year has been extremely challenging for tourism businesses.
What has impressed me is how businesses adapted to these challenges, implementing new cleanliness measures, adding social distancing guidelines, and utilising technology to prioritise guest safety.
The Travellers’ Choice Awards highlight the places that are consistently excellent – delivering quality experiences time and time again even while navigating changing customer expectations and new ways of working.
Based on a full year of reviews from customers, this award speaks to the great service and experience you provided guests in the midst of a pandemic.”
