Forres recycling centre will end booking system from Monday

From Monday 9 August there will be no requirement to book a recycling slot at the Waterford recycling centre in Forres.

Restrictions on the number of visits per household will also be lifted.

The restrictions have been in place due to the physical distancing requirement during the covid-19 pandemic, so that numbers on-site at any one time could be controlled.

Booking systems will also end at other Moray sites, with the exception of Chanonry in Elgin, due to the compact nature and layout of the site, for the health and safety of staff and customers. The number of people allowed on-site in Elgin has, however, been increased to ensure a more flexible approach to access and from Monday 9 August there will be no restriction on the number of pre-booked visits residents can make for Chanonry.

Moray Council’s Environmental Protection Manager, Colin Bell, said of the changes: “We’re grateful for the patience shown by residents over the last 18 months while we kept the booking system in place in the interests of staff and customer safety. We know it wasn’t ideal but in the circumstances it was the right procedure to have in place.

“We’d ask residents visiting our recycling centres to be respectful of our staff who, after working with strictly controlled numbers for some time, now need to re-adjust to the higher capacity on-site.
