A fitness group are hoping to ‘jog’ people’s memories about their weekly meet-ups and get more people to start, or continue, jogging regardless of their ability.
Forres Jog Scotland was formed around 17 years ago and and at its peak, had around 100 members.
As people gained confidence to run alone and with the obvious interruption of the Covid-19 pandemic, numbers have dwindled and organisers are appealing for new members to come forward.
The team of three jog leaders are Ewen Watson, David Mcculloch and Rob Mitchell. They meet on Mondays at 6:30pm in Grant park besides the Mather’s Ice Cream kiosk. No previous jogging experience is necessary.
Physical and mental wellbeing
David said “Anyone of any ability is welcome. It doesn’t matter if you are a complete beginner or an expert. Don’t worry we will look after and encourage you. There is no cost to join. Just turn up to our sessions. The purpose of our group is to get people active and help them progress.
“Jogging offers great health benefits and also mental wellness. Our group is also great for the social aspects.”
Ewen added: “Numbers have been much lower recently and we hope to encourage new and returning members to come along. We provide a safe and positive space for any adults who are interested in jogging.
“You will always have someone to run with in our group and we ensure that you will be in a group that suits your ability level. “
You can also sign up online at Jog Scotland.
Hi, I am recuperating from a road accident but would like to join.
