Up to 34 fire appliances and three helicopters have been deployed in the battle to bring wildfires in the area under control.
This morning, fires at Knockando and Alves were also discovered, following a series of fires which broke out on moors between Forres, Nairn and Carrbridge at the weekend.
Due to strong winds, significant plumes of smoke have been spreading into nearby residential areas.
The Scottish Fire and rescue Service said: “If you can see smoke, please ensure your windows and doors are closed.
“Please do not light fires, stoves, or BBQs. Remember to avoid dropping cigarettes or litter and always respect fire warnings and local restrictions to help protect Scotland’s wild places.”
Police Scotland also updated road closures:
- The B9007 is closed from the junction at Duthil to Ferness.
- The A939 is closed from Grantown-on-Spey to Ferness and the A940 is closed at Dava.
- The B9102 is closed from Grantown-on-Spey to Upper Knockando and Dallas.
- The snowgates at Carrbridge are closed.
The public is asked to avoid the area, including footpaths, and road users are advised not to ignore ‘ROAD CLOSED’ signs.
Nearby residents should keep windows and doors closed due to the smoke.
