FACT gets cash boost from ‘Investing in Communities Fund

Forres Area Community Trust (FACT) will benefit from a Scottish Government funding to tackle poverty, inequality and rural disadvantage.

It is one of 250 community groups, social enterprises and charities across Scotland will receive a share of £11.5 million in 2019-20 through the Investing in Communities Fund.

FACT will be supported with the new funding and each year, over the next two years, will allow recipient groups to create longer-term plans and this, in turn, will help the area’s most disadvantaged residents. deleop

FACT is in the process of acquiring the Town Hall though a Community Asset Transfer as a community resource and social enterprise.

Development Manager at FACT Debbie Herron said the funds, the amount of which are yet to be confirmed, will go towards staffing and core costs.

She said: “Funding from HIE and the Scottish Government makes all the difference to us as it ensures we can continue to support the Forres area in building capacity and resilience.”

Local SNP MSP Richard Lochhead said: “This new fund will promote community-led solutions to try and get the best possible outcomes for Moray’s most vulnerable people.

“It is the tireless dedication and compassion of all the local volunteers that allows these projects to exist.  I am confident that this funding will allow these projects to flourish.”
