Cancer charity stalwart dies age 88

Forres Cancer Support stalwart Jean Mackenzie passed away recently, aged 88.

Her daughter-in-law Carol-Ann Blaikie sent in this picture of Jean on holiday in Portugal in September. She was the longest-serving volunteer in the high street charity shop, raising funds for several causes for more than 30 years.

Jean was born in Hopeman and also lived in Dyke and Darnaway before moving to Forres.

Carol-Ann said: “There are not many people who would commit to volunteering for thirty three years but if Jean said she’d do something, it got done.”

She will be fondly remembered for the selfless voluntary role she played in charity fundraising over many decades.
