People who want to experience the freedom of swimming naked in the open sea, can now do so, following the announcement of an event, organised by British Naturism.
A warning sign – or an advert – depending on how you look at it – has appeared on Findhorn Beach, about a ‘skinny dip’ happening there on 7 September.
It will take place around 100m east of the disabled car par park at the East Beach at 3pm on Saturday.
Participants will strip down to their birthday suit and dash into the sea at this normally secluded spot
It’s all part of a countrywide series of events called the Great British Sk1nny Dip, happening to raise awareness of naturism and funds for the British Heart Foundation. For this event, all proceeds will go to the Findhorn Dunes Trust.
Participation in naturism is on the rise, with significant increases reported since the 200 lockdown.
Andrew Welch, national spokesman for British Naturism said: “Naturism is a lifestyle that has been linked to many health benefits including stress relief, body confidence, mental health, wellbeing and not forgetting the pure enjoyment and sense of liberation!
“Yet, this simple antidote to the stresses of modern life has been around since humans were created – and shouldn’t need to be restricted to secret places or experience shame! “
