Bikers make Forres their base for 120-mile Poker Run

More than 100 gleaming motorcycles gathered at Mr Moto’s bike centre at the weekend for their first ‘Poker Run’.

The event was held to give bikers a chance to meet and socialise in a mass ride-out which took them on a circular route through Nairn, Grantown, Ballindalloch and Aberlour, and scheduled stops at distilleries.

Participants collected five cards on the 120-mile route to make a ‘poker hand’ with the winner getting a £300 prize.

The bikers made scheduled stops at The Cairn Distillery, Tomnavullin, Glenfiddich and Aberlour before completing their loop by returning over the Dava Moor to Forres.

The day was tinged with sadness after one of the organisers of the Poker Run died in a crash on the morning of the event.

Mr Moto owner Matz Rayner paid tribute to his friend and committee member:

“Andy was absolutely instrumental in organising this amazing day, from the website to much of the artwork, it simply wouldn’t have happened without him. He was a lovely guy and would have been delighted to see the success the Poker Run became!

“We dedicate this Poker Run to Andy.”
