Logie Steading is well known locally as a popular shopping destination featuring a very well-stocked bookshop, an impressive art gallery, farm and garden shop, two clothing shops and many others.
In 2026, it will celebrate its centenary – 100 years since the buildings were first constructed as a model farm. For much of that century, the steading thrived as a working farm, only beginning its transformation into the vibrant destination it is known as today in the early 1990s.
Now welcoming around 75,000 visitors each year, Logie Steading has evolved far beyond its agricultural beginnings.
Just 10 minutes from Forres, it has become a bustling home for independent retail, creating and curating unique experiences, championing local produce, inviting visitors to connect with nature all while fostering a vibrant community of people who visit time and time again.
To mark its 100 years of place, people and community, Logie Steading will host a lively programme of celebrations throughout 2026. The year‑long festivities will shine a light on the Steading’s rich heritage and the community that has shaped it.
Centenary exhibition

Highlights will include a centenary exhibition featuring photographs, stories and artefacts spanning the last century, a summer BBQ with heritage bread‑making demonstrations, farm and garden walks and talks, exploring the land and its history, as well as special displays and features across the shops at the steading.
With more events being planned, there are more events to be announced so keep an eye on the Logie website and newsletter for updates.
As part of the celebration, visitors and locals alike are warmly invited to share their own memories of Logie – from farming tales to family outings, big life moments to quiet favourite corners.
Estate owner Alec Laing, explained what he thought has made the steading a success: “It’s a combination and interesting mix of shops, good food, convenient and varied walk, and the setting. Somewhere you can visit to meet friends.”
Independent businesses
The independent businesses are each run by owners who are knowledgeable and passionate about what they do.
Christine Ann De Agostini, has been a tenant for many years with Timeless, and he recently expanded to add a menswear shop, Country Man.
She said: “What makes this place special is the warm welcome, honesty, and diversity of the businesses here.
“Each shop offers something unique, so there’s no overlap in what we provide to our customers, which keeps the experience fresh for visitors.
“The free parking is a real bonus, and the well-managed site with its clear standards and beautifully maintained grounds makes it a fantastic destination for everyone to enjoy and welcome friends & family.”
