A hardy team of walkers have scaled three of the UK’s highest peaks between leaving work on Friday night and coming back on Monday morning.
Workers from AES Solar in Forres took their friends and family members on a weekend trip to try and scale the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales in less than 24 hours. And they did it with an hour to spare.
The Three Peaks Challenge is a well-known fundraising event, and AES Solar wanted to raise money for the British Heart Foundation, in support of those near to them who had suffered from heart disease and associated disorders.
High achievers
“It’s typical of the people within the company to be ambitious and aim high.”Campbell Maclennan, who is technical director at AES Solar, said, “The idea developed from a few of us walking a local munro to a group of 17 completing the national Three Peaks Challenge.
AES Solar hired a minibus for the trip and the group left work on Friday and headed straight for Fort William. They spent the night in a bunkhouse and set off up Ben Nevis at 5m on Saturday.
What happened on the mountain was recorded and they wrote about the experience on their own website, complete with pictures and videos. They also broadcast some of their finest moments on Facebook Live, but had to resort to recording videos due to the lack of signal.
