A physiotherapist called Hans who specialises in hands has grasped the opportunity to open a new clinic in Forres next month.
Hans van Gestel holds a postgraduate qualification in hand therapy, but will offer a complete physiotherpay service from Leys Road when he opens on 4 February.
He and his family moved to Forres after being captivated by Scotland on a family holiday.
“There is a strong community spirit and a strong support of other smaller businesses.
“My wife and I had the feeling we would move out of the Netherlands and since our holiday in 2010 we were impressed by the beautiful nature of Scotland and the friendliness.
“After travelling with our children in 2018 we made the decision to move. I secured a job in Elgin and then we started to look around for places to stay and ended up in Forres as it is a quieter place than Elgin.
Hans has spent the last two years working for the NHS as a senior therapist in the outpatient department.
Hands-on
Hans Physiotherapy will offer high-quality and personalised hands-on physiotherapy with a focus on individual goals. I can help with gaining strength pre-surgery (to decrease recovery time), rehabilitation post-surgery or after an injury, general aches and pains, specific goals you want to achieve with guidance of a physiotherapist.
“There is currently not enough local physiotherapy for one-to-one appointments. Especially as there is an increase in population in Forres with all the new builds. That’s why I decided to jump in and start my business.
“I am a qualified physiotherapist with 10 years experience. I’ve worked in several MSK clinics in the Netherlands, and three years of this was in a specialist hand clinic after I finished the course to become a hand specialist physiotherapist.”
