Donation points set up for fire-hit family

Drop-off points in Forres are collecting essentials for the family whose home was devastated by fire earlier today (Thursday 19 January).

The Forres community have rallied round to help with two drop-off points in the town and a GoFundMe page for people to donate money.

Cerys Campbell is a family friend. She said: “They’ve lost absolutely everything. I am setting up this page to help them replace all the necessities their home needs, their whole house was completely destroyed.

“In this devastating news especially with the cost of living crisis going on and would appreciate any help. Even 50p would go a long way to help out, the family are so caring and generous and they would be the first to help anybody out with their troubles.”

Aromantic on the Greshop Industrial Estate and the Royal British Legion at the bottom of Tolbooth Street are both collecting items for the family of two adults and four children, a one-year-old girl and three boys, 10, 14 and 16.

Aromantic staff have said they don’t have a lot of space but can accept small items between 9am and 4:30pm Monday to Friday.

The building is just off the A96 opposite the flood alleviation scheme.

Any items the family can’t use will be passed on to local charity shops.

The British Legion has also offered space for donations of clothing and anything else that might be useful. They will be open from 11am till midnight from Friday, including weekends.
