A week of drop-in street football for youngsters kicks off in Forres – and it’s free

A week-long series of street football sessions for youngsters got underway at Tesco yesterday evening, as part of Moray Council’s Get Into Summer programme.

Organised by Active Schools Moray and Police Scotland, anyone from P7 to S6 age is welcome to drop in between 6:30 pm and 8:30 pm to take part. The sessions are free to attend, and there’s free snacks!

Monday night was well-attended and games are played inside a ‘cage’. Coaching support was provided by Forres Thistle and on Tuesday, Forres Mechanics will provide support.

On Wednesday and Thursday, there will be basketball, and Friday will be back to football on Friday with support from Nairn St Ninian Women’s Football Club in a girls’ only session.

The games are overseen by Active Schools coordinators and representatives from Police Scotland. Tesco has provided space in their car park for the week and snacks for the two-hour sessions.
