What’s this big blue Heilan coo doing in Grant Park?

A life-size Heilan Coo has appeared in Grant Park just before the Easter weekend gets started.

But this is no ordinary coo! It’s part of a collaboration between Highland Hospice and local sculptor Scott Gleed, and supported by local artists and businesses.

The Great Heilan Coo Trail features 22 coos situated across the Highlands and Forres being the only one in Moray.

The Forres coo is number 21, sponsored by Riverside Kitchens and painted by Dorcas McPhee.

Dorcas wanted to get involved because her husband spent the last ten days of his life in Highland Hospice before he died eight years ago.

She said: “The care we all received as a family was so gentle and helpful. I have been doing many large canvases of flowers recently and thought this would work well on a coo. My design is called Flowers for Kevin.”

It’s all in aid of Highland Hospice who have set up the trail and invite you on a scavenger hunt to log all the coos and ‘mini-coos’ to be found in or near every town or village that has a Highland Hospice.

In the picture are brothers Onur and Kuzey Kisaboy from Forres who came to see the sculpture this morning.
