New tourism and leisure site to focus on Forres

A new website promoting every aspect of things to see and do in Forres has been launched.

Visit Forres is now live and making a proud and bold statement that the town is open for business and ready to welcome visitors from near and far.

The site was built by Moray Media CIC, the not-for-profit publishing company that brings you Forres Local.

Director Marc Hindley said: “Until now, there was no site that did this on a dedicated basis. Visit Scotland and Visit Moray Speyside both have their roles in drawing people to the area, but Visit Forres knuckles down and highlights everything there is to see and do in this town. It’s as much for locals as it is for visitors.”

Things to see and do

The site has a full list of attractions, activities, events, places to eat and drink, accommodation providers as well as essential information for planning a trip here.

Local businesses offering leisure and tourism services can have a free listing in a directory. Many businesses are already listed and owners will soon be able to make changes using an online control panel.

“It’s been in our plans for a while. We registered the visitforres.co.uk domain in 2004, and pointed it to Forres Local. Just when we started to get it ready, the pandemic hit and made a huge impact on tourism. Now that restrictions have been lifted, the time is right.

“There are more than a hundred new pages of content about things to see and do around Forres and we’re bursting with new ideas to make it a constantly updated and refreshing resource.

“Visit Forres is part of a social enterprise, and the focus is to bring publicity benefits to the town. We want Forres residents and business owners to use the site, share it and contribute if they can.

Amazing response

“We’ve had an amazing response after contacting local business owners. Everyone has been really positive.”

Businesses are encouraged to get in touch to discuss collaborations, contributions and partnerships, or to add events that they are holding.

  1. A great shame that visitforres.scot includes our wonderful Falconer Museum with the comment “The museum is currently closed due to funding cuts by Moray Council”. Lets hope this is only temporary and the importance for our museum to local history, culture and education will be properly recognized and funded.
