Tesco puts three-item limit on essentials as panic buyers start stock piling
Panic buyers are once again stripping the supermarket shelves of essentials, as fears of a second wave hit home.
Tesco have responded immediately by rationing items such as toilet roll, pasta, UHT milk in a bid to curtail to the rush on the things people tend to stockpile.
This comes as Scotland and the UK record their highest ever infections in a day,
The Forres store were keeping on top of demand despite a clear surge on toilet rolls. A shopper commented: “This is ridiculous. The trouble is, it starts a trend, now Im thinking ‘better get to the shops before the shelves are empty.
Dave Lewis, the chief executive of Tesco, said: “We don’t want to see a return to unnecessary panic-buying as that creates a tension in the supply chain that’s not necessary and we would encourage customers to continue to buy as normal.”
