The organisers of the Forres Christmas Lights have set up a Just Giving page so people can show their appreciation for the Christmas lights which came down on Sunday.
Due to Covid restrictions, there was no organised event last November, which normally brings out hundreds of people to see Santa pick a winner from the children’s fancy dress parade, who then gets to switch on the lights.
A spokesperson for the committee said: “As we were unable to raise funds this year we have set up a Just Giving Page for donations to enable Forres Christmas Lights to repair our existing lights and purchase new “cross-street lights” for next year. Please follow the link and give as much or as little as you wish.”
The lights and tree were a welcome distraction from the disruption brought about by the coronavirus and lockdown. We sent this picture to The Scotsman who featured Forres in a list of top towns whose decorations lifted the spirits of the townsfolk.
Please give something to show the volunteers how much we appreciate their efforts, and we might even see some shiny new lights later this year.
