A voluntary group who have been looking after and improving the pathways around Sanquhar Pond, have been awarded funding to de-silt the body of water..
The Sanquhar Dam (Pond) Restoration Group was given £15,400 by the Berry Burn Community Fund to dredge the pond, clear aquatic overgrowth and install silt barriers.
It is understood the work will costs £18,900, and they will contribute £3500 from existing funds and will receive a further contribution from Benromach Distillery.
The de-silting will take place during the winter months to avoid disturbing wildlife.
