An artistic and imaginative project that will show how much love shines all around us, is coming to Forres.
The Window Wanderland is billed as a fun community project, and something that everyone can get involved with.
Illuminations have been key to lifting spirits of people constrained by the pandemic. Brodie Castle featured a month-long display of night-time illuminations, and hundreds of people wandered through the Shrubbery to enjoy coloured, calming lights shining through the undergrowth. Then the town centre Christmas tree and street lights brought joy and vibrance to the long dark nights. And now the Window Wanderland promises to light things up for February over Valentine’s weekend.
Will you be someone’s window valentine?
This unique event is organised by Findhorn Bay Arts and Forres folk are invited to be part of the magical art trail on Friday 12, Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 February.
The theme is simple: LOVE IS…
And you can take part by transforming your house, business, school, and street into a magical outdoor gallery. Households, families, businesses, and schools can create their very own window-based artworks.
You don’t need to be artistic to take part… it can be simple or spectacular… anything goes… as long as it’s family-friendly. You might consider what love means to you; whether it’s fun family moments, friendship, being part of your local community in a meaningful way, supporting someone in need, your beloved pets, what you love about living in your town, or it could be caring for the environment, a plant or garden, the Moray coast, or nature around you.
And it’s free!
Taking part is free and everyone of all ages are welcome to participate. You can use the windows of your flat, house, business, school, nursery, car, camper van, shop. It doesn’t even have to be windows, you can also use your front door, the front of your house, your front garden.
Kresanna Aigner, Director, Findhorn Bay Arts said: “Window Wanderland is a Covid safe project aimed at bringing our wonderful community together. It would be great if everyone who lives in Forres turned our streets into magical outdoor galleries.”
She added: “In these challenging times, we wanted to bring some light to the dark winter nights and what better way to do this that through and arts project that everyone can do, safely from their own home, using material and card that are lying around.
“It’s a wonderful and FUN activity for families, and individuals to do over the next few weeks. Over Valentine’s weekend, all participants will turn their lights on to illuminate their artworks for local people to enjoy while exploring our neighbourhood’s outdoor galleries safely.
“We can’t wait to see all this creativity explode on to our streets in February”.
