High street bakery and coffee shop to close after 30 years

A bakery which has been a staple of the Forres high street for three decades is to close its doors at the end of the year.

Maclean’s Highland Bakery at 110 High Street was the first of the company’s outlets to feature a coffee shop, and has been part of the family business for 30 years.

In a sign posted on Facebook, the company said: “After over 30 years trading at 110 High Street we have sadly decided to close this shop at the end of this year. In that time we have had some fantastic times and memories.

“Unfortunately, shopping habits are changing and the high street is not the same as it was 30 years ago. There will be no redundancies as we plan to offer all remaining staff positions within our company.

“We would like to thank all our amazing staff over the years, who have made it such an enjoyable journey.”

Maclean’s Highland Bakery has a further two outlets in Forres, and shops in Grantown and Lossiemouth.
