During this exhibition the Mray Art Centre will be open Wednesday to Sunday 10 – 4 pm.
COVENANT explores Moray’s relationship with the Armed Forces, paying particular attention to MACs nearest military neighbours; 39 Regiment, Royal Engineers, to the east in Kinloss and 3 SCOTS, The Black Watch, 3rd Battalion, The Royal Regiment of Scotland at Fort George in the west.
Although almost a fifth of Moray’s population are connected to the armed forces, either through service or relation, the military retains an air of mystery for most. COVENANT aims to provide new perspectives on military life through the eyes of over twenty artists, both student and professional, who have enjoyed unprecedented access to local service personnel.
The exhibition features newly commissioned artwork by @kennethlericheartist , @celia.smith.1217 , who recently featured in MAC’s summer tutors’ exhibition, and work by Circus Associate @leahdavisartist, who is also MAC’s newly appointed Artist Convenor. Nine students from @morayschoolofart , part of @moraycollegeuhi ,have also spent time engaging with the theme as part of their professional practice curriculum; their research, concepts and progression sketches will also be exhibited, giving an insight into how Artists develop their work and consider multiple elements such as display and interpretation.
COVENANT also includes an open exhibition of artwork commissioned and created by serving and retired service people and their next of kin.
